It is still shocking to me that I am approaching 10 (if you're an inquisitive person, it is 9 years precisely) years working in the mental health profession! Clinically speaking, I have conducted several psychological evaluations assessing neuropsychological, psychoeducational, cognitive, psychosocial/emotional, neurodevelopmental, and personality concerns. Most of my clinical training is in psychotherapy. I have treated children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings including community mental health centers, private practice, private specialty clinics, and schools.

It is hard to capture everyone's unique issues but in a BIG "nutshell", I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, past childhood or intergenerational trauma, stress, motivation, procrastination, family discord (past and ongoing), identity or general adjustment in new situations, communication skills, romantic relationship(s), and occupational challenges. Definitely a big nutshell.

I am very solution-focused and find homework (I also call them task-of-the-week or behavioral experiments) to be helpful. I use an integrative approach because it allows treatment to be flexible and we can tailor treatment based on your specific needs! I tend to gravitate towards the following evidence-based approaches: CBT, DBT, solution-focused brief therapy, and object-relations therapy (for more information, check out Treatment Approach). Generally speaking, this allows us to learn about the past, focus on the present, and prepare for the future. Personally, I like to strengthen one's ability to set healthy boundaries while building up assertiveness skills and coping strategies. Additionally, I work on helping patients challenge their negative thinking patterns.

Along with my clinical experience, my research has been published in academic journals and I have presented my work at several national conferences among other health professionals. In terms of mental health advocacy, I have been invited to speak about mental health issues at local community centers, hospitals, and schools/universities.

When I left New York to attend my doctoral program in Florida, I knew that I wanted to come back to provide mental health services in New York City. Things have changed so much. The internet allows the world to stay connected. As such, I am thrilled to provide therapy to New Yorkers residing in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, & Bronx -- not to mention, the rest of the state. I am sure it is the native New Yorker in me, but I LOVE the diversity within and between cultures. The differences among us coupled with unique life experiences make life that much more interesting. Truly, what makes me continue to do what I do is the trust that my patients have in me. The collaborative working relationships that are developed in therapy are very humbling and reinforce my passion to help stimulate growth and change in others.
